| In October 2024, the BBC confirmed that the United Kingdom would be selecting its act and entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 through an internal selection process. David May - the manager of Sam Ryder (the United Kingdom representative at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022) - had been selected to assist Andrew Cartmell - Executive Producer BBC Studios North and the United Kingdom’s Head of Delegation for the Contest - in finding the 2025 entry. On 4 February 2025, The Sun newspaper published an “exclusive” story claiming that a “stunning girlband” had been selected by the BBC to represent the United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 in Basel, Switzerland. Remember Monday - who had been identified by the newspaper as the United Kingdom representative - are a country trio (Lauren Byrne, Holly-Anne Hull and Charlotte Steele) who had previously appeared in the UK version of the singing competition The Voice in 2019. They describe their sound as “a blend of modern and classic country, with a touch of pop and rock”. On 7 February 2025, Remember Monday’s status as the United Kingdom representative appeared to be confirmed during an item on BBC Radio 1's Group Chat with Nat and Vicky. However, it took until 7 March 2025 before formal confirmation came on The Scott Mills Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2 that the United Kingdom would indeed be represented by Remember Monday with the song What The Hell Just Happened? written by the group along with Thomas Stengaard, Julie Aagaard, Tom Hollings, Sam Brennan and Kes Kamara. |
